Amy Finn received her Ph.D. from the University of
California, Berkeley and completed her postdoctoral training at the
Massachusetts Institute of Technology. She joined the faculty at the University
of Toronto in 2015, where she directs the Learning and Neural Development
laboratory (https://finnlandlab.org/). Her work is focused on
understanding how cognitive and brain development shape learning outcomes both
in general and especially in diverse socioeconomic environments. She uses a
variety of behavioral and neuroimaging (MRI, fMRI, DTI, TMS) techniques in both
children and adults to investigate the relationship between cognitive
development, brain development, and learning outcomes. She combines her
training in psycholinguistics, cognitive science, memory, and cognitive
neuroscience to study learning outcomes comprehensively—across traditionally
desperate research domains including language acquisition, memory and learning
systems, and educational achievement.
