Martha J. Farah is the Walter H. Annenberg
Professor of Natural Sciences at the University of Pennsylvania, where she
directs the Center for Neuroscience & Society. Her research focuses on the
relation between socioeconomic deprivation and the brain. Her interests also include the expanding role
of neuroscience in society. She is a fellow of the American Academy of Arts and
Sciences and the British Academy, a former Guggenheim Fellow and recipient of
honors including the National Academy of Science’s Troland Research Award and
the Association for Psychological Science’s lifetime achievement award.
